Chapter Seven

Tamira

Never have I ever...had feelings this strong about anyone.

Never have I ever...felt so confused, but so right about anything.

Never have I ever...wanted anyone as much as I want Caden Bishop.

Ever.

Last night with Caden was incredible. I don’t know if the magic between us was heightened from the storm, but the intensity and connection between us is out of this world.

He took me to erotic heights I never dreamed were possible, and we didn’t even make love. I wanted to. I wanted to feel him inside me, but he said we have time, and that he didn’t want to hurry. I like that he wants to take his time with me. It makes me feel even more special and precious.

We fell asleep by the fire, wrapped in each other’s arms. I don’t think I’ve ever slept so deeply or felt more at peace than I do with him.

Boss Girl sleeps curled up at our feet, and she wakes me in the morning with wet little kisses on my cheek. I pry my eyes open and see her pretty little face up close to mine, and my heart melts. You don’t need to grow up with a dog in your life to fall in love with one as an adult. Animals have a special way about them, a special kind of magic that works its way deep inside your heart.

“What’s up, sweetie?” I whisper, patting her soft pelt. I need to use the bathroom, and I’m guessing Boss Girl does too.

Caden lies beside me on the rug by the fire, but he’s fast asleep. Wisps of hair fall across his face, and I wonder what he looked like when he was soldiering. Longer hair suits him, though I’ve never seen him with it close-cropped. Meh, who am I kidding? He’s so handsome, he would look incredible with any kind of hair.

I don’t want to wake him, and we won’t be gone long. It’s a clear morning, no more rain on the horizon, but it’s damn cold. I’m not going anywhere without a coat, and I figure Boss Girl will need one too. She’s so tiny, and so adorable.

I collect my clothes from the floor, putting them on as quickly and quietly as possible. I grab my boots at the front door, throw a coat over myself and a teeny tiny doggy coat over Boss Girl, and head out the door.

The ground is covered in a light coating of frost, and though I’ve never spent Christmas here before, I’m guessing it won’t be too long before snow begins to fall on the mountain.

Boss Girl trots up ahead, stopping to sniff things from time to time, and at the pace we’re going, I’m warming up quickly. I don’t mind a brief walk in the morning. Moving my body and breathing crisp, fresh air will help me think things through.

My mind works at a million miles an hour, and sometimes that sets my mouth in motion and I get myself into trouble. Moving while I think helps calm me down and organize myself.
